Looks good, Hob. :thumbleft:

John, your contribution was truly excellent. I really enjoyed reading CotM and SotM whenever it was posted. It was nice to see articles on these plants that actually gave a bit more detail than just a name and a photo.

I will truly miss John,s contributions and wish my ole sparring buddy all the best. I still have a couple pulchellas surviving

Good to see someone pick up on John's idea and carry the torch onward.
Looks good to me Hob, I think you've got it. Thanks for carrying on with the tradition :)

Hi all,

Thank you everybody for the kind comments, I really do appreciate them. I will certainly be watching the forum with interest.

For those who take the job on there are certainly lots of good photographs on the forum itself. I must admit that 99% of the photographs I used were my own plants, but I did use a couple from another site, but don't forget to get permission (whoever does the job.) People are usually quite flattered when asked if their photograph can be used for such a purpose.

I would love to have carried it on because it was something that I really enjoyed doing, but for various reasons my time on the keyboard was becoming limited.

Take care all of you and have a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year. Lay off the sauce Bill and I am sure there will be things for me to chip in about in the future.

John

Yes, Hob, that is excellent! Looks just like the real thing!

You can copy that over for the Jan 08 plant if you desire.

cactus of the month for January is up on the board, i posted it a bit early because of the holiday time.

i'm no expert and almost all of the info comes from surfing various websites, if anyone spots any glaring mistakes please feel free to say so and i will change things. i want cactus of the month to be an accurate resource for everyone to use.

John,
From my seat at the desk, your contribution here has been one of the main reasons that this site is so successful. I know that Daiv feels that way. Please continue to join in when you can, your humor is the best.

Well, thanks for that Buck. It really is appreciated and I will always try to keep an eye on the forum, certainly one of the best things on the web as far as I am concerned.

I am sure it will go from strength to strength, particularly with such a great bunch of people contributing to the site and I promise I will not forget the pleasure all of them have given me over the last couple of years.

Good luck everybody,
John

Good choice Hob. A reliable bloomer that one is. I'm sure lots of people also wondering how "Rebutia" that plant is. Yet somehow Gymnocalycium denudatum and G. horstii are differnt species. :-k

Indeed, very nice plant. I picked one up in the fall.

Nice COTM post, hopefully it got enough of a chill to flower for me this year.
