Momordica rostrata

Post by tvaughan »

I have 5 Momordica rostrata seedlings about 3 inches high in my propagator. I would like to move them gradually into my greenhouse. It is still winter here, and sometimes we get a slight frost. When properly hardened off, how much cold can this species take?

Thanks

3 inches high is massive - hardly seedlings. Infact, i think i only have a couple of cacti that are any bigger than 3"
Weird - a Euphorbia is not a cactus, yet a Pereskia is.

The caudiciforms are succulents rather than cacti and although I have no certain knowledge of this particular species, none of the caudiciforms that I know of will take frost in any shape or form.

As John Pilbeam (the cacti author) likes to say from time to time. "Make haste, slowly." It would be a great shame to lose them.

Tim,

I googled the plant and came up with this web page. This guy grows them (according to him). He will probably have some advice.
