Cactus Recovery

Post by cronea »

I almost didn't come here because I feel so stupid because of my mistakes.

I have a crab cactus/holiday cactus, and when it started producing long pink blossoms I got excited and watered it a lot. Several times. I ended up ruining the roots altogether.

It's down to only twelve segments and very weak... but it started turning greener in the sunlight, and started producing little white projections at the bottom, which I guess are new roots.

I want to do this right this time. Would you please give me some tips and guidelines?

Don't put it in direct sunlight and keep the soil moist but not soaking wet. Not a good idea to leave it sat in water. Don't feel stupid cronea, we all have to start somewhere. :D

Cacti are very resilient and it does sound like yours is making a comeback. Pauls advice is sound. - Keep it warm too.
All Cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are Cacti
