A truly magnificent Saguaro

Post by Franj »

Hi all :-)

Was looking through some old pictures I took when I first came to Tucson 20 years ago. Here's a pic of what is still the coolest Saguaro I have ever seen! It has not one but three trunks and is at least 35 - 40 feet high. This spring I will have to go out and find it again so I can take a better pic.

It is indeed magnificent ! I just hope that after so many years you will still find it and it did not have the same fate the saguaro Buck told us about in his post in cacti places

Hi again Dominique :D

I wrote a little essay on the Saguaro for a web site I'm building about my gardening. It's not published yet because I still have a long way to go. But you can find the essay here.

That is truly a beautiful specimen. I'm constantly amazed at there size and the time span there capable of spanning.
Great picture and a nice essay on the saguaro.
Keep us posted on your webpage progress.

As a kid I lived around the Phoenix area but unfortunately I was more interested in tarantulas and snakes back then

Looks like that one got it's head lopped off years ago and re-sprouted the three trunks.

Yes, many years ago. Like maybe 1850?
