Recently, I just made a few upgrades to the collection. I brought a new table for repotting plants and treating ones with diseases,

Under the gazebo, I put the plants on tables, so they can receive more sunlight and so the pots can stay clean.

Recently, I was using the hose to spray a C. spinosior that had scale on it. Later, I felt irritated everywhere! After I looked in the mirror, they were glochids all over my face and neck!

Byron, I'm jeleaous of your Astrophytum myriostigma 'Bishop's Cap.' It's a beauty. :o Mine has put on some good growth this year, but not a sign of blooms. :( I've found the year-round horticultural oil spray is the best solution for scale and mealy bugs. I hit the plant hard with it, and keep it out of the sun for two days. Tony

Nice plants and flowers! :)

Those glochids are something else! I never would have thought that spraying water on them would scatter them.
My mind works in mysterious ways.

Thanks everyone! 8)

Celtic Rose: I pulled them out, and they are yellow glochids.

Tony: Thanks for the tip. :) Now, I don't have to go out there with heavy armor just to spray the opuntiads!

Isn't it strange how pots on the floor are always dirty after it rains :?:

Yes, even when I'm watering them, the dirt, leaves, and perlite stick to the pot and make it look very unattractive. I'm now a member of the CSSSJ and plan to enter plants to the show next year, so I have to keep the pot and plant in show/contest quality.

Glad you e-mailed me about that Discocactus! I clicked on the last page in the thread and didn't notice those earlier posts of the blooms.

Cool
Are these flowers?
I don't think so. Looks more like stem growth.

I agree - stem growth.

It got bigger so I guess it's a stem. Thanks for your input Daiv.
