The M. rhodantha's confusing me -- it's got a fruit! I don't know how this is possible. I only have the one plant, it's the only plant that has been bloomin so it didn't cross with anything, I don't think M. rhodanthas are self-pollinating, and even if it were self-pollinating there are no critters in the apartment to pollinate it.
Anyone know what the normal blooming season is for these plants? This thing has been blooming almost non-stop since before I bought it in November -- that's over 8 months now!
Your plants are looking good. On that Mamm fruit. I'm not sure how long you had it, but one possibility is that the flower was pollinated before you got it and the fruit develops inside the plant. So it could be comming from a flower that was pollinated at the place you got it from. It is also possible that the fruit is empty or the seeds are not viable.

All Cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are Cacti
Lots of cacti throw an occasional fruit. Sometimes it is empty, sometimes it is full. I was picking dead flowers off M. backebergiana today and one of them has a fat little green base. Only one out of maybe 50 flowers!
@Daiv: No, the fruit is from a flower that developed since I got the plant. That part of the plant grew months after I purchased it. A random, non-viable fruit makes sense, however.
@Darryl: There are lots of lawns around here -- too many! Xeriscaping's starting to be more popular, thank goodness.
