Sometimes it takes a close up pic on a big screen to see the little details. Another reason i take alot of pics

I'm overdue for an update, so here goes.

First, a link to the K. marnieriana thread, updated today: Kalanchoe marnieriana.

Next, the Portulacaria afra plants are all growing nicely.

The largest plant:

The smaller plant:

The cuttings took, but the leaves just rotted.

Cacti next!

The M. bombycina has plenty of fuzz, but no flower buds yet. :(

However, I finally got some pics that do justice to the colors on this plant. :)

The M. rhodantha's confusing me -- it's got a fruit! I don't know how this is possible. I only have the one plant, it's the only plant that has been bloomin so it didn't cross with anything, I don't think M. rhodanthas are self-pollinating, and even if it were self-pollinating there are no critters in the apartment to pollinate it.

Anyone know what the normal blooming season is for these plants? This thing has been blooming almost non-stop since before I bought it in November -- that's over 8 months now!

And lastly, the Notocactus whateveritis. Still no signs of a flower on this one.

Your plants are looking good. On that Mamm fruit. I'm not sure how long you had it, but one possibility is that the flower was pollinated before you got it and the fruit develops inside the plant. So it could be comming from a flower that was pollinated at the place you got it from. It is also possible that the fruit is empty or the seeds are not viable.

Lots of cacti throw an occasional fruit. Sometimes it is empty, sometimes it is full. I was picking dead flowers off M. backebergiana today and one of them has a fat little green base. Only one out of maybe 50 flowers!

Those M. gracilis sure are mad!

Thanks, everyone! :D

@Daiv: No, the fruit is from a flower that developed since I got the plant. That part of the plant grew months after I purchased it. A random, non-viable fruit makes sense, however.

@Darryl: There are lots of lawns around here -- too many! Xeriscaping's starting to be more popular, thank goodness.

The M. rhodantha's putting out fruit like mad now. It's still flowering too. Can anyone tell me the normal blooming season for these plants?

My crazy M. rhodantha has now decided to offset. I guess it's determined to reproduce!

You've got little seedlings there. Looks like there was something in those fruits.
