Outdoor Bed
Re: Outdoor Bed
Definitely a plan.
It’s not the fall that kills you; it’s the sudden stop at the end.

Sounds like a good plan to me! By the way, are you going to plant any Aloes?

Re: Outdoor Bed
I have one that I am planning on planting. I don't know what it is, though. I'll put it up for ID soon.

I live close to Bob Smoley. Love that place. Pachycereus has survived the cold just fine for me and I get colder here than St. Augustine. St. Augustine seems to have some Atlantic protection. The cold has been the least of my problems since my main issue is nematodes.
Re: Outdoor Bed
Thanks for the advice, but in the last couple of months (since I moved it from my windowsill to outside) it has just constantly been getting sunburnt. And it gets shade during some parts of the day! I don't think it could make it planted, I keep having to move it to the gazebo for it to recover.
I bought a Notocactus magnificus from Walmart today. It's not in the best of shape but was only $3 and no shipping! I was in a hurry, so didn't get to look around much, but I will go back soon and see if they have anything else on my list.
The Notocactus will go in the ID list whenever I have time to take a picture to make sure Walmart labeled it right.

The bed as of this afternoon: (You can tell where I stopped weeding!)
The Opuntia humifusa pads in the middle: (I've been rooting them for a couple of months now. No growth on top, but they've definitely been working down below.)
I obviously need more cacti!

Re: Outdoor Bed
Now I really need more cacti. My grandpa has Alzheimer's and he got into the garden this evening. He's very disoriented and managed to trample the O. humifusa with 2 pads; I guess I can only try to re-root what's left.

Re: Outdoor Bed
Almost finished! With lots of plants from BobbyZ and Lowes, I at least finished the planting. I ran out of pebbles and the left part of the weed barrier (torn out by my grandpa!) needs to go back in but it's basically done. Now the plants just need to grow some and fill in the gaps!
The A. americana variegeta (sp?) will probably outgrow its space but it was the only place I had for it. It will get a home of its own eventually.
