Looks good to me Hob. Very wild about the guy shooting one and then getting clobbered. All I can say to shooting saguaros is - Stoooopid!

Looks like one of the pics has some ruffian in it, but he doesn't look like a vandal. :o

The future may see the return of the genus Aylostera along with Rebutia and Weingartia.
Unfortunately the one name that won't be back is Sulcorebutia. Oh, and Mediolobivia, like anyone cares  Its comfortably hardy to -7C (20F), a good one for the unheated greenhouse.

P.S. Your E. coccineus v paucicostata has more spines than my normal one

Might be hardy below -7C, but I'll probably never know :)

I knew it was pauci-something, I must have been looking at an Eriosyce when I wrote paucicostata.

Took me a minute to see what Ian was commenting on. Then I realized - new features! Woo hoo! Glad to see them Hob! I sure appreciate your efforts. Fun to read and always handy to refer back to these features when the come up on the forum.

There videos on youtube showing people blasting cacti with shotguns, its a sad thing to see :(

I hate to say it but that guy in the wiki article had it coming to him, God works in mysterious ways. :o

Hey I just saw this. That is a whopper of a feature! I'm glad you tackled that one as I have marvled at the variation on these. But now, I'm a little closer to figuring them out.

Thanks Hob!

Looks good Hob. I'm glad you pointed out that the name is an anagram. I was surprised when I learned that they did that with scientific names. It makes for a neat sounding name anyway.

I wonder, however, if descriptive names are better suited. Perhaps "Bolivicactus" would have been a bit more awkward, but make it easier to remember what it means? Maybe not. I know someone thought it was a good idea with "Bolivicereus".
