I hate to be a stickler for the rules, but some of the pics posted for the contest don't qualify as *small or low growing opuntiads*.

Yes, the plant may be young and conform to the rules as is, but it's not a small or low growing specie.

I will work with you and extend the contest submissions for a few days to allow you to change your photos.
(Deadline for pic changes will be Friday, Feb. 20, 2009)

The photos in question are:

plantlover: Need to know what specie that is.
mycacti: The C. fulgida mammillata is really borderline, however the O. microdasys are acceptable.
vlani: Sorry, C. echinocarpa does not qualify.
Saguaro123: Sorry, C. acanthocarpa var. thornberi does not qualify.
Wayra: Sorry, A. subulata does not qualify.

Does this count as low-growing? Echinocereus davisii for scale :)

Ian, I don't know about the contest, but you ought to get a trophy for getting 6 segments to grow without breaking! They aren't stuck together with tooth picks are they?  :P

Wayra, is that plant in habitat or is that growing in Australia?

Darryl, I'm pretty sure his plant is O. Humifusa. You might remember this thread of his below.

Superglue! Segments have fallen off, but for some reason they have always been the side growths and so the main growth keeps getting taller. I can't imagine it can get any taller without the whole thing falling over, so this year I'm praying for flowers.

Speaking of small opuntiads, take a look at these recent additions to the guide from a fellow in Argentina:
