ok folks,this page is gonna look a bit out of date at the moment but it is mid winter here at the moment and not much is happening, for events for next year you will need to scroll down to the bottom, this page will be updated in the new year and will show a full program of events in the UK

if you live in the UK and want to join a local group or go along to a cactus show here are some links for you,

Thanks for the pics, Hob. It looks like that Ortegocactus bloomed a lot earlier this year. Must have been fun!

I hope this thread increases awareness of the BCCSS and our UK members that aren't members are inspired to join up!

no, i should be entering the south norfolk branch show in 3 weeks time, when i get round to sorting my entries :roll:

it was my nearest club show today, and i entered a few plants, to help with the display, the South Norfolk branch of the BCSS is not a big branch and the show is open to the public so i put in some plants help give the hobby some publicity although most of my plants are not really show material (having only been growing for about 3 years)........i did manage a 2nd place and a few 3rd places though :D

and as usual i had a camera with me :D

Nice show Hob. Are there 90 branches of the BCSS? It must be hard for the indivdual branches to get enough members to participate.

there are 86 branches listed on the website, mine is a bit remote from the main centres of population.

That is a surprising number of local clubs! But if yours is an example of a smaller/remote club it doesn't look to be hurting for skilled growers. There are some really nice plants in those pics of yours.

The British Cactus & Succulent Society has recently done a major overhaul to it's website
