Possible road trip

Post by RayC »

While surfing the net yesterday I happened across a note for the CSS of Massachusetts meeting tomorrow and they are supposed to have a talk by John Spain ( I do believe I have heard that name here and there  ) on winter hardies. It will most likely be a very last minute decision to go or not.
If I don't make it I will try to get to the Connecticut CSS show and sale for his presentation there.

Do let us know what he says. I do have a weakness for cold hardies

I did end up making the run up there. unfortunately I did not get a chance to talk to him very much about hardy gardens because I spent to much time helping him set up his presentation (logistical thing with dueling slide projecters, screens and a venition blind that had to be forcefully convinced to go down). His presentation this time was on some of the history of growing cold hardies along with pictures of various cold gardens and varieties that work for him.
Of course I had to buy a copy of his book while I was there and the paper work that went along with presentation may have a few more specimens that may work (beyond what is in book).

Also because I didn't have a chance to talk to him much I have an excuse to go to the CCSS show and sale Apr 4th and 5th.

I am unfamiliar with that one, but it would be interesting to read.
