Welcome to John's Topic 2009!
Let's start this topic with some of my new additions that you have not seen.
Echinopsis flower bud I got it from the recent Home and Garden Show.
Unknown Agave. Also from the H&G Show.
Peanut cactus. Also from H&G Show
Red Opuntia microdasys (I know how mean a plant it is... I got plenty of glochids in me already!) Also from H&G show
Unknown Cholla from H&G show
Segments that broke off of the cholla during the ride home.
Many more pics to come!
Enjoy!

Nice selection of plants.
I've had a sparrow hawk visit the yard in winter. I've only seen him snach one house finch off the feeder. It always catches my attention when the birds scatter, I know he is lurking in the pine tree branches waiting them out.
Never have gotten a picture though. Too fast, and hides to well.

Thanks everyone! Many more pics of different plants to come!
Ya! It is pretty odd watching all the birds seem happy and flying around and eating from the feeders then all of the sudden hide and be completely silent.John P Weiser wrote:Nice selection of plants.

Thanks! Yep, I think thats what the cholla is.CoronaCactus wrote:Great plants!
Cool bird!
The Agave might be A. potatorum.
The O. microdasys isn't called red teddy bear, thats Cylindropuntia x fosbergii
Yes, the unknown cholla is boxing glove, C. fulgida v. mammillata.
Thanks about the teddy bear thing also, I didn't realize that. I'm not good with the common names! Sounds wierd but I remember the scientific names much easier than the common ones.
