I finally got a flower on my Coryphantha macromeris. I've had this plant for at least 3 years and this is the first flower I've ever gotten!

Too bad the pictures are so crappy!

I also took some bad pictures of my NOID which I now think is an Echinopsis.

The flower started opening in the late afternoon. I took this picture around 9PM local time. Any guesses?

I was out and about yesterday and snapped a picture of a large Opuntia in north Scottsdale. The landscaper popped out at the right time to give some scale...

at first I thought that was an AR-15. Seem to be a lot of those around Phoenix lately.

Not an AR-15, it's the most favored weapon in the Phoenix area; a gas leaf blower!

The guy in the pic definitely has a militaristic posture.

Yeah, I totally thought that was some militant dandy bearing arms when I first saw the pic. Good thing he is there because without something to compare the size, I would never have guessed it was that big. That is one formidable cactus - I think Bill needs one of those in Kansas!
