Hey! I meant to do this yesterday! I'm not used to the Poll ending on Monday instead of Sunday. Anyway, the poll did close yesterday.

It looks like my picture made it at the last minute by one vote! I feel kind of wierd posting this. I never even came close to winning in the past and until the last couple days, didn't think this one would either. Mavaz was right there with second and GeneS and faslimy tied for third.

Thanks again to Dominique for comming up with the category. Thanks to all who submitted entries and thanks to the voters for making the tough decision on which to pick.

We will start contest #5 on April 23rd. Wayne had suggested a "macro" contest in the suggestions post. I will be contacting him to establish the guidelines and qualifications.

Eventually, I'll get the "Hall of Fame" page up for the winners. (Springtime is when I get the least done on the computer -too busy looking for new growth and flower buds! )

Great contest everyone!

Cheers to Daiv !!

And, Cheers to all other entrants as well. We have reached a new high in both entries and voters. I think we're on to something here.

GeneS -dgimages

PS. My unofficial vote for artistic potential would have to go to Buck's bleeding opuntia.

Nice going Daiv. No doubt about why that picture is part of your signature.

Thanks Gene. I thought that I would share the rest of the story.

I was walking through tha Baja Gardens at the Jurupa Mountains Cultural Center one afternoon when I saw that "Bleeding Opuntia". I just happened to have my camera, so I was able to capture the cause of the "bleeding".

Buck, that is incredible! How perfect that you had your camera. No doubt, we'll have a critters and cactus contest sooner or later, but I think I know the winner already.

Great picture Buck.
Thanks for put together my two passions: Cacti and Insects.
Seems like Cotinis mutabilis the Western Green June Beetle. This could be the time to call this beetle the "tuna bleeder beetle".
We are not alone...there are a lot of cacti-lovers.

I agree with Daiv. This colud be a winner picture for a contest.Cacti and animals could be a perfect subject.

Thanks for the pics. Now we know the whole story.
Around here we can those June Bugs and as a kid i would tie thread on there leg and watch them fly in circles. OK, I had a boring childhood

PS: it was also my favorite.
