Pediocactus simpsonii, its got 9 flower buds
Weve got a few more that will go anytime........

Thanks for the comp-le-ments, us cool climate sorts get a late start, but it all shakes out in the end........ I transplanted 4 varieties of cabbage into the veggie beds today, yup its still early spring here. The potatoes are just breaking the ground......

I has out pulling weeds today. The P simpsonii looks like it will have 4 flowers tomorrow, so ill get another set of shots. They are from 9000' elev in Chaffee County Colorado. I consider it a small form, but it does offset freely. Did the one I sent you live Bill?
That plant is a wild collection from some pasture my brother bought. He was going to be pasturing 3 pack strings of mules on the land, so I figured id rescue a few plants before they were pulverized. He takes people hunting and fishing, carries ther crap on his mules, and looks for lost idiots.
The Opuntias are covered in new growth, its spectacular!
