Hi Bob,

I think it is Parodia magnifica (synonym Notocactus magnificus).

Parodia magnifica

Post by templegatejohn »

Hi Bob,

This is a lovely plant I am very envious. It is a favourite of mine, but one I never do very well with.

I have one plant now about the size of an orange with one small offset. I have had several in the past with mixed success. If you water carefully they sit and sulk, but if you are too generous with water they tend to split, which is a common problem.

There are two varieties and yours seems to be the one with the more blue body. This is the nicer variety of the two, but does not offset as much as the other one.
