Yucca filamentosa

Post by ihc6480 »

Here is some pictures of one of the few cold hardy succulents I have in my cacti garden.
This is a Yucca filamentosa.

Those are some nice yuccas. Here in El Paso many have already finished flowering.

Bill,

Nice plant.

You know, of course that the petals of the flowers are edible and quite a nice addition to your evening's salad.

Thanks all for the comments.

Buck,

I didn't know that, thanks for the info.
I will give them a try in my salad.

A very beautiful plant and flowers. I recently watched a documentary on TV and I fell in love with a yucca rostrata. Now I have to find one...

Dominique,

I agree with you on Yucca rostrata. Here's a couple, the small one in my front yard, after the bloom it now has three heads, and the very large one at the Jurupa Mountains Cultural Center here in Riverside. They have a wonderful texture.

Blooming again

Post by ihc6480 »

I don't think this is typical but my yucca is blooming again and it's been about 1 1/2 months since the original flowers.
It has actually grown 3 shorter stalks and blooming. I thought all my cacti and succulents were done and I get this surprise. Oh, this is a solitairy plant.
