Found this cactus growing at a neighbors house. Isn't it awesome?

Any idea what kind of cactus it is?

Can I eat the fruits?

Best, Barefoot Ted

PS. I have many more interesting cactus in my neighborhood that I may need help on. I am in rural Los Angeles (yes, I said rural).

Barefoot Ted,
There are also some seriously large Cereus plants at the Huntington Botanical Garden if you ever get a chance to go over there. (Not to be presumptuous, maybe you have.) Although, I don't think they'd be too keen on you hauling off the fruit and eating it.
