brave Neobuxbaumia polylopha sticking it out in the flood plains lol. one of the few cacti that survive the wet here. note one in this picture is rotting, that is from a mysterious piece of flying bamboo spearing it.

thanks guys :)

unfortunately thats not a very big rain, its only rained that once in 4 months here so far. in peak rainy season teh whole area will probably be 3 feet under....not sure about those neo's outside......they handle the rain, but not sure about the flood.

looking to make cacti fences along the place, so far just using cereus cause they have good spines, grow quick and dont die. always up for suggestions.

about 100-150 meters along one side will be hylocereus, be planting them tomorrow probably.

heh, I wanna build a cacti fence too. I know down in Mexico they build them with mexican fence post which I think are in the cereus family but I am not sure.

as for your set up it looks nice and a lil bit like my back yard in AZ looked a month or so ago..(that is underwater) Its been a rainy year so far.

and yeah. nice greenhouse...

Lots of labor going on there, Kyle. Keep us posted on those Neobuxbaumia, as well as the entire project!

ya, sure is a lot of work, but when you enjoy doing something, its hardly work :)

i have got some mexican fence post cactus but to be honest their spines are not mean enough for my liking. i want people thinking of stealing to think twice. will also be trying some perskiopsis and see how big they get. i like them cause they look so harmless, until you touch them.

How is the soil there? From the pictures it looks like a clay or lime-like soil. Probably low in nurtrients?
