Hello Pily!
I take it those are both natives to the DR, no?

I'm going to guess the first is Consolea picardae and the second is Melocactus intortus?

I like them too! :D

The top one looks like my O. engelmannii var linguformis from somewhere else, I am assuming the DR...:)

Thanks for all the great coments!!! I love to share the passion for this type of plants, for me there are so many varieties that are fascinating, our country has many popular beliefs to people that is a very interesing subject to reserch and explore, Im not and expert on botanical names, but when I post any picture I will call it as they are named here, I hope, all of you with more experience than me, help me to find the real names for them. While I enjoy and learn from all the great pictures that are posted.

Do you have a chance to visit your neighbors much? On Navassa Island only is supposed to be this plant:
