I bought the same crappy greenhouse again!

Cheaper than last year, only $288 with free shipping...but this time I'm going into it with eyes wide open, and with total recognition that it will only last through the summer. I have all the benches and staging that I put up. It's another temporary solution, but my plants deserve it....they loved it last year, and will hopefully love it again this year :)

Nice your plants will be happier in there I think. :)

I saw your buildup last year and it looked nice.

Maybe you won't get so many feet of snow next winter ;)

I have the same crappy green house and I like it! I worry about what will happen in a bad storm though, I expect high winds could be just as devistating as heavy snow.

Robert,
I wonder if you couldn't build a simple snow roof to put up in the fall this time. In the unlikely event that you get another record-breaking snowfall, a handfull of 2x4's and a sheet of polycarbonate could be all you need. Just a simple square frame. :dontknow:

Of course, it might be easier just to pack the thing up in fall and do the garage thing again.

Actually, the first collapse was after we got 3" of snow!

Harriet, it seems pretty resistant to wind, as long as you have all the stakes and tie-downs in. When I was first putting it up, we got a storm with 30 mph winds, which didn't faze it a bit!

daiv, that seems like a good idea, but I know my limits. I don't have any way to transport 2x4's that long (or large sheets of polycarbonate), no way to dig holes other than with a spoon, and no one to help me. I could ask friends/neighbors for help, but I like doing things on my own :)

And you've got spare parts and/or reinforcement parts ;)

Hard to go without a greenhouse once you've had one.

greenhouse

Post by Cacti77 »

I just bought a Snap & Grow 6X8, it freakin rules!!!

The "glass" is virtually indestructible :!:

I cannot wait to try out the snap and grow, and it was only $780 on sale, if you buy a greenhouse buy it after the first of the new year, everything is on sale then.

Sorry I am giddy with excitement, not trying to jack this post.

Yes, I just looked up the Snap & Grow 6X8 on-line. Everyone in the pictures is smiling so it must be good. :o

On one page it looked like it had a gutter system with a hose attachment on the end for collecting water. That would be nice to have already built in.

I keep hoping to find a lean to greenhouse that I can take the sides off of in the summer and close in during the winter. So far it looks like I'm going to have to have it custom built, and it will have to wait for my lottery winnings before the building starts...

My choice for the econo GH is the Harbor Freight. Their 6 X 8 is only $100 more than you spent. I have the 10 X 12 model.
