I would have voted for Jordi's Puna - What a beauty! We have a little one that may bloom someday, if I can keep it alive.

I agree about the O. macrocentra. I spoke with a man on Saturday who was describing the same plant as santa-rita.

Opuntia santa-rita has pure lemon yellow flowers that darken to apricot when they are older. O. azurea/macrocentra has flowers with red bases to the sepals. There are other morphological differences. The only real similarities are the tendency to turn purple in winter or under stress.

This contest has really picked up steam! What wonderful photos.

I'm just glad I was able to participate in this month's contest. :)

I went with a different photo then what most people would have expected I am sure. I have too many Opuntia pics to be honest!

And btw I still get confused between a lot of the different types of Opuntia.

I've been waiting for this one, I already knew which pic to post in january. competition is fierce though, I think I'm going for craig and denise's picture.

Buck might like that also.
This year, their 2nd year being watered with water acidified by vinegar, 4 of my 7 different clones are flowering profusely again.

I was clicking on the poll so I can vote, but the page directed me right to the current results instead of the voting page. I don't remember logging in to vote at all. Is there a way we can find out who were the members who already voted?

Byron,
Was this just before your post here? I see it is dated May 31. If so, the poll ended and so there is no more option to vote. The voting on this contest was over on May 30.

Note: the time used is GMT.
