Maybe. I would wait until the fruit ripens. I don't know what they look like ripe on that species!

It will dry up and fall off in a couple of days if it is not developing seeds, you will know soon.

I don't think G. baldianum fuit ever goes red, but ripe fruit will split open to reveal the seeds so there won't be any doubt.

I have fruits on my Gymnocalycium quehlianum all the time. They ripen to yellow and then fall off after 30 days or so, but so far no seeds. Maybe I need two Gymno's to bloom in close proximity at the same time?

Yes you will need two genetically different gymnocalyciums to cross pollinate. I got my first gymno seeds last summer on my mesopotamicum which was crossed with my baldianum now I have about 10 seedlings growing from a pod of about 30 seeds.
And as the walls come down and as I look in your eyes
My fear begins to fade recalling all of the times
I have died and will die.
It's all right.
I dont mind

They don't have to be different species to pollinate, as long as they're not clones. They have to have grown from different seeds.
