I have had about 20 small flowers over two main stems.Now that the flowers have died back both the main stems have fallen away and detached from the main plant.Is this normal ? Do they grow back next season or what?

I,ve not had one of these plants before..

Yes, some food and water in this hot weather. Keep quite dry in wintertime and min 10 or 12 degrees. Not to much sun, but light as much you can get and it will flower again next season. Harry

I agree with Harry. These are simply the flower stems and the die back is part of the process. Follow Harry's advice then wait for next year, it will be spectacular I bet
