Kitchen style propagator:)

Post by alkravi »

Hi Cactilovers!

I finished making my propagator few days ago, it's in my kitchen right now, hence the topic name.

Here's how it looks:

Image
The dimensions are 0.8x0.3.x0.4 m.

Image
Maybe I will hang it on the wall, it's occupying pretty much space. There is a thermometer with max/min memory for monitoring inside temperature.

Here's how it looks inside:

Light comes from four 18W fluorescent tubes. 3 6400K and 1 5200K.

I am able to get up to 8000 Lux:

I run the lights for 14 hours a day on a timer.

The hole thing cost me approx. 125$, in Ukraine of course. Still have some free space and planning to sow more seeds soon.

that is pretty neat, especially the fact you can attach it to a wall.

I myself haven't used/needed a propagator, my windosill seems to be perfect during winter months :)

Nice. It is so well designed you could put it just about anywhere.
It’s not the fall that kills you; it’s the sudden stop at the end.

The craftsmanship looks excellent. I like it! Very nice job.
I am just looking for the defining statement to put here. Follow this link to see my other cacti.

You made that??? From scratch? I think that is the nicest looking propagator I've ever seen! Well done!

It's a nice job :)
I think you are preparing for some grafting later on, or am I wrong? ;)

Really nice! I think what Daiv meant was that it looks great - and the thermometer etc are things no one would make, but putting it all together as you did is really nicely done.

I'm joking now - but all you need is a microwave attachment to steralize the soil! Good luck with it,

There are some holes for ventilation on the top (right corner near the wall) and the "door" has 1 mm gap, it doesn't close too tight. Max temp was 32.5 C, that was approx. 10 degrees higher than the room temperature. I will probably not be able to use it during summer, but that was not my intension.
