I'm going to try another round of seeds. My first batch, I used propogation trays and a heater to warm them during the 50 degree nights.
This time around I'm considering ditching the heater and using heating mats. Any thoughts on them? Would they work with a wooden propogation pan or should I stick with my plastic 2" x 2" divided trays?
Thanks
PS, after I put my echinocactus grusonii seedlings in the sun, they gained some strength, but are fairly red towards the top. Am I giving them too much?
Thanks so much

I've talked to several people who have been quite successful using heating pads. I think that will give you good results.
As for putting your seedlings in the sun, I'd be careful. I think indirect sunlight is going to be your best bet. Or direct sun from morning until about 10:00 or 11:00AM. You should definately avoid direct afternoon sun as that will likely burn you seedlings right up.
