Need help pinning down this cactus and flower.

Post by CJ »

Shot this image just outside of Cave Creek. I doubt if this cactus is native to the area, and I have not been able to pin down what it is - lots of guesses.

Would apprciate any help I can get on this one -

First guess

Post by sonia »

CJ,

I'm probably wrong because I doubt Echinopsis mamillosa could have appeared there (since it's native to North Argentina & Bolivia) but it's what comes to my mind right now.

Perhaps someone can find a better picture on the net and/or more accurate guesses.

Image

Good luck,

Sonia, you are really good, cause the image you posted is surely a twin of the one on my web site! I am sure that mine is not native, and my friend in Arizona told me he thinks the center that this cactus is in front of, obviously a landscape project, put in non-native plants. My problem was - what, when, and where from (forget the why - who knows why landscapers put in foreigns instead of natives).

Thanks much, CJ
