Perhaps the link can be a sticky, so it can be referred to easily when the question of collecting from habitat comes up on the forum?

OK I made it sticky, but also moved it to "Places" since it seems to go best with that heading, don't you think?

It should also be mentioned, that when collecting seed:

DON'T collect every seed from an individual plant, leave most of the seed on the plant. Collect small amounts of seed from multiple plants. This helps preserve the seed for population growth in habitat and gives you more genetic diversity when grown in cultivation.

So just in the interest of curiosity would it be bad to collect seeds from plants that are protected? I haven't ever taken any seeds from anywhere but plants I own, or I know the people that own them and do so only with their permission.

An example of some seeds that I could have taken but didn't were on the M. grahamii that had one fruit on it. I left it. I wouldn't feel right taking off one fruit if that is the only one whether it was legal or not is another issue entirely.
Here's to you, all you insidious creatures of green..er I mean cacti.
