What's wrong with my Totem Pole

Post by Franj »

Hi all,

Put this in the garden this spring and it had done well up until now. All of a sudden the growth is turning brown and weird. It's not soft like it's rot but the color sure is strange. We've had a lot of rain lately, is it some sort of fungus? Internal or external? Should I spray it with fungicide or actually water it with some? I have some systemic fingicide in my arsenal.

Franj,
I think that the excess rain could be a possibility. I had similar damage on a M. geometrizans when we got a lot of rain. The damage looked like sun-burn and never got soft, but it had to be from the water. It had been in the ground in full sun and it is doing fine now. The only variable was the excess rain.

Hopefully your right Daiv and it will grow out of it. It's a shame, it was pristine.

I'll take a picture of mine for comparison.

I hope it'll grow through it.
