Restoring a Fishtank Stand For Plant Use
Restoring a Fishtank Stand For Plant Use
Well during the summer I decided to restore an old fishtank stand we had sitting in our backyard for years. I thought, Instead of this piece of junk sitting here looking ugly, why not make it useful!
And you all get to see toes in every picture Aren't you lucky!
So here is what it looked like before I worked on it:
It's a blurry picture, but as you can see it was quite rusted.
I ripped the old melamine boards out, and sanded down the stand. I then Washed it, primed it a couple of times, then painted it 2-3 times for a nice thick coating.
I cut some wood to the length needed.
Painted on about 3 coats, to protect it.
Drilled some new holes in it.
Started installing the boards from beneath so you don't see any screws.
Both batteries for the battery drill died, so I used our old electric one. Still does the job, that's all that matters.
And here is the finished product.
It's not as precise as I would have liked it, but it still turned out pretty nice in my opinion.

there is an old metal shelf that I might use for some extra storage of cacti. I have the greenhouse which I have yet to put the cover on, it's a pain in the jerk. Anyone want to help?
But extra table that is sturdy would be nice. Just gotta figure out how I wanna make the shelves, since it's just a bare metal frame.

Here's to you, all you insidious creatures of green..er I mean cacti.
Thanks everyone!
Awesome! Congrats on the greenhouse. Sorry, I would help, but I live kind of far away.Peterthecactusguy wrote:there is an old metal shelf that I might use for some extra storage of cacti. I have the greenhouse which I have yet to put the cover on, it's a pain in the jerk. Anyone want to help?
