Looking for Opuntia xoconostle/joconostle

Post by nullzero »

I am looking for Opuntia xoconostle/joconstle. I have a lot of stuff to trade, tell me what you are looking for. Have cultivated Opuntia ficus-indica varieties, various varieties of Dragon Fruit, many other cuttings, divisions, seeds. etc. to trade.

Being where you live I would suggest hitting up the Mexican communities. Xoconostle is Opuntia ficus indica but is a very sour variety used for that sour purpose. I believe there to be some regular wild species that are alos used. I had a chance to get some of these and passed them up because I did not like the sour taste. If I find them again I will get you some and I may grow them since I have seen them requested several times on the internet.

I like sour and tangy things, I mainly wanted them for crossing with a sweet variety Opuntia ficus-indica eventually. Think offspring seedlings could produce interesting fruits.

Peter,

Thanks for the info, I will try to get around to this sometime in the future. Maybe the results will be good.
