Mammillaria hahniana ????

Post by cactushobbyman »

Sold as a Mammillaria hahniana. After seeing the flowers, I don't think so.

Not muscula, albipilosa. Muscula has short flower tubes. I think it also lumped into fiebrigii, even if it does not make much sense.

Mine will flower soon so I'll have a look at the flower tubes. One day I might be able to tell them all apart. Or just call them all R. fiebrigii ;)

I believe with the color of the flower, I'll go with Rebutia albipilosa. I bought the plant online, kinda remember from who, so I'll think twice before I consider them again. Still a very nice plant. :)

That's what mine's looking like! 8) Still going strong!
Once bitten by the cactus collecting/growing bug, there is no known cure!
There's no 12 step programme for Cactaholics...so I shall just have to get some more!!

Ian i scratched my head, looked at it a lot, got out the bible (pilbeam) but for some reason it doesn't "feel right"
I don't know why..............but there is no better match so I will put it down to variation and say yes muscula, there are lots of hybrids about but i will still go for muscula because the flowers are uniform orange and hybrids will show deviation in flower colour.....................yes muscula :?
