Re: Cactoman's 2012 Outdoor Cacti (PICS ARE UP!!!)
Good going, Ed! The "standards" are doing what they're supposed to -- & we all take our "best" shots at some "fringies". I have some "edgier" Echinocerus planned to go in late Spring (delantii/longisetus depending on who was naming or what specific strain), but E. pentalophus I was pretty sure wouldn't make it here. It's still worth trying, until you get lucky!
Once bitten by the cactus collecting/growing bug, there is no known cure!
There's no 12 step programme for Cactaholics...so I shall just have to get some more!!

Updates 2/4/13...
As we slide toward spring, the casualties are beginning to show:
LOST
(1) E texensis for sure, another one is iffy
(1) Echinocereus reichenbachii (Altus OK) from Miles
Cylindropuntia davisii
Lobivia winteriana
Echinocereus pentalophus
Lost a branch on Cylindrpuntia spinosior
The bed was set out quite late, hoping that if I get the replacements in early and let them get established all spring/summer that I will have some better results...reichenbachii is supposed to be pretty reliable to be losing one at winter's end...

Looks like that Stenocactus couldn't handle the cold
