Eriosyce chilensis
Eriosyce chilensis is hard to distinguish in habitat when out of flower from Eriosyce (Neoporteria) subgibbosa, which often grows nearby. Eriosyce chilensis flower colours vary from reddish at one end of it's range to a yellowish form at the other which Ritter called v. albidiflora. However in the middle of the range varying flower colours exist side by side, as in this Roger Ferryman habitat picture.
It comes from Chile, in the coastal region of the border between the Province Choapa and Petorca and is one of the easiest Eriosyce to grow as seed germinates well.
