Very delicate picture, Subverted - it looks like the plant is coated with candy.--Very tasty for the eye.

That is incredibly early for a leuchtenbergia to flower GeneS. Nice job and great photo!

Here are my 2 plants of L. principis- the one on the left hasn´t flowered once . Looking at your seedling it should be old enought though :-k

Second photo of my contribution, showing both heads that are in flower at the moment. It's got another 2 or 3 heads that look mature enough to flower but still haven't been kind enough to do so in my care.

Your W. neumanniana looks more orange to me, but hey, I'm not complaining -- those flowers are gorgeous! :)

Great shades of yellow, Jordi.
I´d say let´s not draw the line to orange /red on one side and to white on the other side in this thread too sharp.
This is about summer colors, after all. It is so much fun to look at all those great pictures!

Submitted for your consideration - Trichocereus x-schickendantzii that I grew from seed from a red-flowered plant in my collection.

I keep this one in a pot that stays outdoors year-round.

It has survived 9F, snow, ice, hail et cetera.

I didn´t expect Trichocereus to be this hardy - great plant and flowers.
The picture looks as if it grows in a well drained pot out in the garden without any shelter?

Your observations are keen and correct.

The large pot is out in the open.

The inside edge of the pot is edged in pea-gravel for drainage and hopes of preventing too much freeze expansion - so far so good.

The soil matrix is pea-gravel mixed with leaf-mold compost.

Also sharing the pot but too small to see at this angle is Notocactus concinnus.

Your winters arn´t very wet aren´t they? Otherwise these guys would surely rot away in no time without shelter I believe.
Or maybe cacti just tend to like being in AMERICA much more than being shipped to some nasty cold and damp place like EUROPE ???? :-k :D
