Well, those are pretty RED spines in the first photo of the contest.

But these'll add variety.

First, here's Trichocereus formosa (DJF175) aglow in evening's light.

OK, here's my entry. A Ferocactus cylindraceaus (or should I say acanthodes?) in Western AZ:
