Re: Spring blooms
Amazing garden and the plants in them!
A cactus and succulent collector who especially likes Ariocarpus. …Though I have a bit of everything! Want some pictures? See my flickr! I also do art and such.
Re: Spring blooms
Thanks, Y'all!
Glad you enjoyed the cacti.
The season ahead portends more blooms.

Re: Spring blooms
Beautiful preview for some of "mine", MJ! Lost a E. fendleri that had survived 2 Winters . Was down in Georgia(Athens) for oldest son's wedding last weekend. My ex- has got a nice (small) stand of O. ellisianus -- as in the pad you sent me. It's doing real well. Didn't realize how large the pads can get! "Your" pad -- like all the O's haven't shown any real signs of life -- except humifusa of course.
@Maja: Echinocer's seem to be fairly easy to get going as seeds. With your new-found experience as "expert" seed germinator, I think coccineus would be the same. Just have to wait a couple of years before you get in the ground

Once bitten by the cactus collecting/growing bug, there is no known cure!
There's no 12 step programme for Cactaholics...so I shall just have to get some more!!

My experty remains to be seen. My seedlings have to live through 1st year. Many of them didn't.hoteidoc wrote:@Maja: Echinocer's seem to be fairly easy to get going as seeds. But your M. matanzanus are still alive (for now) all 6 of them that germinated.

hoteidoc - Glad you enjoyed the photos. Hopefully your O. ellisiana is okay. A new growing season has started, full of promise.

Re: Spring blooms
So beautiful!! I will have to get some of those for my alpine garden.
"Why are you always petting the cactuses?"
"I dunno, I just like to."

Re: Spring blooms
Welcome to the cactus forum, CactusSquirrel.
Some more cacti were in bloom this morning, including this Echinocerrus dasyacanthus hybrid (grown from seed from an E. coccineus).
The flowers are smaller than typical E. dasyacanthus, and have a greenish hue instead of the usual bright yellow.

And here is a young Lobivia (not the Notocactus I had mistakenly stated originally) aurea leucomalla.

And the Escobaria missouriensis had a quite a few flowers open at once, putting on a nice show.

Re: Spring blooms
MJ your plant never cease to amaze me. Good job. I have some to look forward too when they bloom, IE the Echinopsis aurea. ... Love the colors of the Echinocereus cacti as well. Also I need to get some seeds for some Escobaria I think
Here's to you, all you insidious creatures of green..er I mean cacti.

Re: Spring blooms
Beautiful plants and fabulous blooms!
Re: Spring blooms
Peter - thanks for the compliments - and the correction (apparently in my declining years my mind is becoming as sharp as a well tumbled stone).
Also - I have plenty of Coryphantha sulcata seeds (lots of fruit on my two plants) if you are interested.
