Hey K.W. I missed being able to visit you while in the UK. Family issues caused the 2 weeks to be cut down to 1 week.

Good evening Mike,
yes very sad!
It would have been a great pleasure to have met you in person.
Hopefully there will be more opportunities.
Maybe I will make it to Arizona again - and then also to you.
Best regards and best wishes,
K.W.

Re: Every day new flowers in the greenhouse in Köln
Good evening dear cacti-friends,
in another forum I was asked if I will clear the plants from the greenhouses to the house/company.
Or whether I have to heat the greenhouses.
They are not yet; they are already in the greenhouse.
Due to the mild weather, I have only put away very few plants.
Next week I will intensify the move into the greenhouses a bit.
Few plants will go into storage, mainly large and heavy hanging baskets.
Heating I will probably have to do in the greenhouses. . .
This is the lean-to greenhouse in front of the office.
The plants go into the office; then Haworthia & Co move into the greenhouse.
325318
325319
The plants are distributed to the greenhouses, some come to the staircase to the office,
and some to the office.
325322
I can't move all the "stuff" into the company - everything stays in the greenhouse.
325338
325339
325343
The plants are also distributed to the greenhouses.
325345
325349
The Sulcorebutia will stay there; however, the carport will get walls and thus become a greenhouse.

This is the first time I noticed the hinges on some of your roof's. Is there a reason for the moveable roof's. Heat? light?

Good evening Mike,
the roofs are to protect the plants from rain.
I would like to be able to determine the humidity in the substrate alone.
Since it rained relatively much here until a few years ago, about 90 cm / 35.5 inches on the surface,
rain protection is the most important.
The closer the roof is above the plants the smaller the roof overhang must be above the plants.
But then I can only get to the plants bent over; much too uncomfortable!
So I can lift the roofs and with a straight back to the plants.
That's it.
Best wishes

Re: Every day new flowers in the greenhouse in Köln
I always like to see the pictures of plants in your homemade rolling tables above the stairs, every year!
I have also started to bring some plants inside. Some for the remaining of winter, some just for one night. We get a -5C for one night up here. So my winter active plants will be inside for one night as I fear my African bulbs might find that a bit too cold. The coming week the temperature will go up, so I can bring them back to the greenhouse again. In the next week or two I will have time to accomodate them in their frost free winter hiding spot in the greenhouse itself, which I need to set up first.

Re: Every day new flowers in the greenhouse in Köln
Good morning Aiko,
thank you for the compliment.
I wish I could fit more plants on rolling pallets. . .
A low temperature of +/- 1°C was predicted for the last night - so quite a few plants can stay outside.
The greenhouses are also not heated yet, the substrate ( pumice, lava and zeolite ) keeps the temperature from the day for a few hours.
It's a new "game" every year, will it be cold, when will it be cold, will it freeze?
Leave the plants in the fresh air as long as possible, but do not risk damaging them.
Not for the faint of heart. .
I wish you good luck with your plants!

Good evening dear cacti-friends,
today some photos from November 25, 2022.
The process of moving the cacti into the warmth continues,
two or three more days and the cacti will be in the house / greenhouse.
OMG, I'm going to have to clean those out thoroughly - I'll probably repot the twelve boxes. . .
The plants were very neglected, but have recovered well this year with me.

José my friend, yes many leaves I have to put away. . .
But the good thing is - per leaf I get three cents from the homeowner.
