Here are some pictures of my outdoor plants...weeds and all. These are some of my non-green house plants that stay out in the Florida heat and rain and sometimes cold all year long. Some of you may remember when I put these beds in, others may be interested in comparisons.
I would love it if other folks from different areas of the country would share their garden pictures here too.
I like the combination of the tropical bouganvillia and the Agave.

The next few pictures are in my side yard where the beds are woefully overgrown with weeds. It is not easy pulling weeds from around prickly plants!

That's supposed to be Euphorbia "sticks on fire" but It never gets red, so I'm not sure what the variety is. The plant in front is a ginger.

This is a combination of Agave, Aloe, Pentas, Manfreda, Dyckia and weeds.

These are a tropical agave planted in unamended Florida dirt. I've transplanted three pups so far and it keeps sending them out!

Adeniums and succulents in the front, bromeliads and cycads in the back. One of my dogs keeps trying to plant the purple toy in the foreground, but it won't sprout!

Wow! Thanks for sharing these. It's nice to see how others do it in our climate. The open cactus garden looks great and I love the Opuntia growing out of the trash can
I got the solar lights at Lowe's for practically nothing, they aren't very bright, but they do add a bit of drama in the yard. They have been out there for a year or so and seem to be holding up well. I think they have paid for themselves considering how inexpensive they were.
The "terracotta" trough is going to be fun. It is full of experimental veggies now because it gets too hot here to grow veggies this time of year, we are just seeing what holds up the best. My husband thinks the planned second trough will also be veggies, but I'm thinking flowers and herbs may be more fun...

Harriet: How lomg have you estrablished your outside garden? It is great to have all these xeophyte gardens in central FLA. I am doing things in piecemeal ever since we moved into our house in Saint Augustine almost two years however, we are living in a golf course community ruled by a HOA. Space is a limitation so I am transforming one piece at a time. I need to keep an environmebt for butterflys and humingbirds, but agaves and Opuntis do really well. Does your sprinkler system overlap your cati garden? Look forward to sharing ideas Bobby Z
When you compare it to picture 11 down, you can see how overgrown it has become in the past few years. When I compare the before and after I realize how much crap I have to pull out of that bed!
At about the same time, I put plants in the stock tank/trough you can see in picture 16 down. It started out looking like this:
