Do these look like they are getting enough light?

Post by melodies »

I keep hearing the word "etoliated" and these plants are starting to look like other plants called that. Do you guys think that they are getting enough light? The two plants are on a sunny windowsill, but maybe not sunny enough? Any IDs would be appreciated, too.

I'd say not enough light. I don't know exactly what these are, but I have a feeling they should be right rosettes and a much darker colour, possibly even grey-ish.

OK, I will repot and acclimate them to the great outdoors, then. Thanks again for your help. They appear to be 2 different species, by the way. The photos (or photographer?) didn't do a great job of showing that.

best guess as to what your plant might be is an Echeveria or a Graptoveria... your plants do need more light I agree that the form should be a tighter rosette..
I have seen my Echeveria do this in the past I live in michigan and I grow my plants 4-6 months of the year under lights. I have given up on them here until I own a greenhouse. Thou because of this happening to mine I have changed to stronger light bulbs and more of them. good luck .. I wouldn't repot the baby plant its doing fine.. and its roots are too fragile just yet... ( the one sprouting from the leaf )

thats my 2 cent worth lol
again good luck

I've already repotted them :? I have no light setup so my plants have only 2 choices in life: windowsill or outside lol! But hopefully the baby will be alright. I'll update in a few days.
