Hi!

I have two Echinocactus grusonii with some babies. I would like to propagate this cactus, however I'm not quite sure how to do it.

The propagation is just take the babies, let them heal and wait until they get roots?

Thanks!

What is usually do is that I take the pups, let them dry for over a week, plant the in slightly moist soil and wait till they grow roots.Wait until some exerienced growers comment,I am just a novice.BTW I don't think that is an Echinocactus Grusonii but some kind of echinopsis/lobivia

The person who gave me this told me that the cactus didn't get to much sun, so they start to grow up. Maybe that's why they didn't seem Echinocactus grusonii.

Maybe I'm wrong but the spines and pupping habit doesn't look like that of an E.grusonii.I don't recall seeing golden barrels pup so much with older specimens being an exception.

Agree with Alber, besides grusonii only rarely offset, Echinopsis commonly.

If you want an ID i would say they look like they are etiolated Echinopsis calochloras.

Why do you say they are etiolated? What should I do?

At first look, not E.grusonii. Maybe Echinopsis. The pups, can be removed, let dry for a week at least, then put on top of the soil and in time it will root. Or just let it pup longer and some of the pups will start to root on the mother plant and then replant.
