Found this one of Stenocereus eichlamii in the town of La India in western Nicaragua. This is a true living fence as the plant is the only fence. More common in the area is to build a fence line with posts and 3 strings of barbed wire and then plant cactus, succulents, or bromeliads to make it more visible and tamper proof.

The neighbor said that when they plant this type of fence they dig a trench and plant the cuttings directly.

I'd like to try that with some native species here. The trees nearby are indian neems, aren't they?

I have heard of Neem here but am not familiar with it.
2 more cactus pix, one looks like a crested form.
