Photographing Cactus

Post by JuanKilo »

Just curious, is anyone using a 35mm camera for photos, or is everyone using a digital camera?

I use a Canon EOS Rebel T2. I'm currently using a Canon EF 28-90mm Zoom lense to take shots of my plants. It doesn't allow as close of a picture as I want to take, so I'm browsing for a Macro lense that will allow much closer shots. As it is now, I can't get as close as some pictures I've seen in here, and on other websites.

Hey Blue,
Are you kidding? Overcast days are the absolute best for digital photos, in my experience at least. You sure you got your white balance and everything set properly? For close ups, direct sunlight is the enemy of digital photos.

Anyway, that's been my experience.

I am in total agreement with Daiv! Overcast is a photographer's friend, no matter what the medium (film, camera type, digital, etc.), for the close-up/macro photographer.

I have a Nikon Coolpix 3100 3.2mb digital. I used to use an Olympus OM-10 35 mm SLR (awesome!) but, of course, digital is great for, well, digital work, especially if your scanner is messed up (like mine) :?

Hmmm.... A any rate, what overcast does for photography at close range is it removes the sharp shadows, almost shadow free, so one can get the best detail without sacrificing intensely contrasting areas.

What kind of camera do you have? Sometimes you get what you pay for with digital cameras. Found that out while buying digital cameras for the kids. Cheap is, well, cheap quality.

I have a Kodak EasyShare DX4530 5.0 meagpixel I use although I usually shot pics at a 3.2 setting and yes direct sunlight is not good for my digital either. I do still have a 35mm that I wouldn't trade for the world though. It's a old Honeywell Pentax ESII
