So where's the rest of the family living this year, Maja -- after hubby builds you 3 new GH's! I feel like a "piker" with only @ 60 species/ssp. to be started.

I'm not worried about starting up. In this phase they don't spend much space. I'm worried about WHAT IF 100% germination happens???????? ](*,)

Then they (family) will be in trouble.

I am happy I will be sowing mesembs and other small African plants mostly. They hardly need more space in a few years time than the pots I will be sowing them in in two months time.

I'm getting restless, Maja. My big order from Alplain's hasn't showed up yet. Unfortunately (updated) Web Home page says Alan's mother-in-law passed away 1/8/14, so even tho he said it would be "after" mid-Jan, hoping it's not a long delay -- like people with big orders from MG/Steve Brack run into when new catalog comes out. :-k But certainly understand...

Exciting -- only if they survive the Winters in-ground! Many strains of Echinocer's, a few not-commonly-regarded as cold-hardys, e.g. Eriocyse curvispina, Aloinop. spath., different ssp of Lob. aurea, & some Lewisia sp.

It looks very nice and organized. Just my opinion/suggestion but once the seeds sprout I'm sure you could lower the light very close to the top of the containers.
Can I ask you why you chose not to use the baggie method? I realize this is very close.

Baggie method?! Hmm. I'm too curious for that. This is very easy to open and look into, I guess. And I don't have to buy seal bags, since I eat enough chocolates to use boxes for the purpose. Image

Well...lights are fasten that way I cant lower them. But I could lift boxes I guess. I spoke to a grower sking him about my lightment. Hesaid it is OK even for a bit bigger plants...so I reckon no lifting will be necesary. :-k

Curiosity is a murder. I had to peek in. And I found a WINNER:

Its name is Pachypodium rosulatum (4 days from sowing).
