Hi Keith, in the seed swap sub forum you said to look over here to see seedlings you sometimes sell. What do you have available now?

Thanks, Jerry

2022 seed germination. it looks like I keep them drier than most other growers I see on this forum. Astrophytum coahuilense and a mixed group of seedlings including M humboldtii, E. micromersis, Ariocarpus bravoanus and lopho.

Astrophytum coahuilense rot super easy right after germination so fingers crossed and exposing to drier air. Other pots haven't germinated yet so exposing to dry air and will try again in a few days when the sun comes back. No heat mat it seems to cause fungus . Also using pysan20 when first watering which is a soaking.

Cloudy day so not the greatest pictures. They are inside on a windowsill right now . I take them out when its a sunny day, under shade cloth and under a plastic dome so it heats up. Has to be somewhat hot to germinate these species so this June gloom is not so great.

I think it is time to change the title of the thread to something like "Keith's great sowing results" thread.

How are the Escobaria minima doing these days, anyway?

Hi Aiko, yea good idea . Here are some of the Lithops from seed you sent me . I'm at work labels are tapped on the pots but I believe Karasmontana

Escobaria minima still have a bunch of them maybe 50 ? They are small so I don't mind .

How old are they? Last year I tried to grow them from seed but unfortunately, none of the seedlings survive in their first month.

Mon Apr 14, 2014 I posted the story that makes 8 years old. I have about half of them still others died or I sold them or traded them away.

I even had tiny worms eating them one year ! Slow growers but all my cactus grow slow and pretty hardy in my climate. I guess try again

I'm looking for E. abdita I would like to grow that one also.

keith I had the same experience as you with very high germination rate on my 100 E. minima seeds. Hopefully mine dont take more than 3-4 years to flower but you had yours at 5 years old so atleast I know what to expect. Great thread

I grow outside in cold frames I bet they grow faster in a greenhouse or in a warmer climate ? These also can be watered earlier in the year than the Mexican cactus , I know it rains in west Texas in Winter not much but it does and it gets really cold.

I have a bigger old one I need to cut up and re-root . I bought it in early 1990's from Abby gardens and crossed it with a Mesa gardens plant I bought a little latter for some reason cant remember why ? . It was before I started producing my own seeds. Only the little ones are flowering now the older two nothing yet. In Habitat they never get big. There is a good video on habitat plants from "crime pays botany doesn't"

Like Rebutias they get abnormally big in cultivation, offsetting etc.
