OK guys, these are some fun posts, but I have to say that Willy's "takes the cake"! A Melo-candle party! I love it!
YumaAZ, that is an interesting bit of history. Have you ever seen the movie "A Midnight Clear"?

It is similar to your story, but set in WWII. I was particularily moved when troops on both sides looked in each others faces and realized the guys they were fighting were not much different than themselves at all.

Hi Daiv, the story moved me too. I don't think I have seen 'A Midnight Clear' is it historical or fictional? I liked the comments about it at the link you posted, it is the side of war that we don't get on TV and didn't get in history class. Like Vonnegut's 'Slaughterhouse Five' and the bombing of Dresden, the people that were really there rarely glorify it. "So it goes".
anyway to those "in harms way" I wish you a safe, happy day.

Thanks for all the wishes and for some great graphics. I'm Graphic-less at the moment as my computer is just now back up and running after six very long weeks! I do though wish you all a very happy holiday and a peaceful, prickly New Year
