Days of my cacti lives - in pictures
Re: Days of my cacti lives - in pictures
More summer blooms to enjoy:
Succulents claimed to be hardy for our climate. Have doubts about that nice Delosperma though.
Wow!
Bees love that Delosperma...
When some cacti presumably do nothing they produce sugars and grow roots.

Re: Days of my cacti lives - in pictures
June is almost done but something is still in bloom:
Seedlings growing fast and have to be re-potted & thinned out at least 2ce a year to have space for each one. Echinopsis sp. (hybrid).
Opuntia polyacantha from this morning.
Little by little, year after year lost Mayan cities have been swallowed by the surrounding jungles...

July is here. Middle of summer.
Almost threw away this Mammillaria because of the recent sunburn. Looks it started to recover. Maybe volcanic rocks helped?
T. polaskii just woke up.
Fraileas got fruits.

Re: Days of my cacti lives - in pictures
Despite of the dimmed sky here because of the fires' smoke during most of days since late June some of the cacti felt fine and even managed to bloom:
... and continuing.
These are just fruiting for the first time. Frailea buenekeri.
Scculents also doing well.
Looks like this graft is going ahead. Have to chop off these arms at some point.
When the sun suddenly pops out after some murky days and I get late with shading over plants burns like this can appear.
Blooming is not over, this is from today.

Diversity of young plants Mammillaria dioica originating from the same fruit.
Different seedlings grow at different rate and have diverse requirements that cause problems if keeping those in one pot.
Mammillaria, Rebutia, Sulcorebutia, Echinopsis.
Another graft progressing.
Last summer flowers?

Not so much missed since September here.
This one is a very first flower of this seedling(s).
First flower after a pause of several years.
And these are from December.

Nice The only cacti flowering here at the moment, are some Schlumbergeras. I see yours have fruits , did you pollinate the cacti by hand? I tried crosspollinating several of the Schlum’s here but no fruits.. Obviously I must have done something wrong. Happy New cacti Year!

Pollination came out to be tricky. First of all we have to have different species, hybrids or varieties of those and not only plants of the same clone. Second: brush did not worked well for me for some reason. Better bring plants in flower close to each other and stick stigmas of one into pollen sacks of the another and opposite.

Spring is almost here. Haworthia blooms, awakened seedlings, cacti with buds.
Some of the tiniest early blooming plants.
Collecting cosmic energy.
Blooms are picking up.

Some blooms I almost missed.
Gymnocalycium pflanzii and G. neuhuberi -- first blooms since I have these.
Two different Lobivia (L. saltensis; L. hertrichiana) & Parodia crassigiba.
Rebutia pygmaea (two variants), Echinocereus davisii continued.

Nice start to a colorful Cactus blooming season! Mine are on their way, too. Gotta get some pics resized and post'
Re: Days of my cacti lives - in pictures
Mine are mostly indoors so bloom early. Just took some pots to the deck because frost-free season started (hopefully). Next long weekend will install the portable GH and kick others out.
