Hi from a newbie from Malaysia !

Post by kjcactusboys »

Hello !

I'm new here and also to the cacti world. I am looking to learn from you experts and at the same time make some new friends.

Some information on myself:
I am from Malaysia (any other Malaysians on here?) and have a small collection of 4 plants. Looking to grow my collection by buying a new one every month. Seems like a lot to be learnt from these forums and looking forward to it !

My small collection:

Nice meeting all of you in advance !

Welcome.
And as the walls come down and as I look in your eyes
My fear begins to fade recalling all of the times
I have died and will die.
It's all right.
I dont mind
I dont mind.
I DONT MIND

Hi Aiko, adetheproducer and gemhunter178 !

Looking to learn from you all here.

By the way, any of you know the type of cactus that I have in the picture ? I used to just call them all cactus.
But after scouring the CactiGuide page, i'm guessing from left:

1. Pediocactus winkleri
2. Cleistocactus winteri
3. Opuntia microdasys
4. Cant find this one in the page (but i think it might be Armatocereus rauhii)

It'd be great if you can confirm my guesses ! :)

I can agree with Opuntia microdasys.
The first one on the left is more likely some type of Mammillaria, though it's too big too be a Mammillaria vetula ssp. gracilis cv. Arizona snowcap, which was my first guess.
As for the others.... I don't know about the second one, the last one looks like Acanthocereus/Cereus tetragonus, does it have many stems? If not, it may be a non-monstrose version which is a bit less common.
A clearer picture may help, also, if you haven't already, submitting this to the "cacti identification" section.
