G'morning memememe,
Is the one in the first picture flowering from the side??
Yes a flower comes from the side.
A normal asterias flower comes from aleore but the flower you mentioned comes from rib-bottom.
This character comes from Hanazono kabuto. The asterias on the photo is not a Hanazono kabuto but I thin it is mixed the gene of Hanazono.

I attached a photo of Hanazono kabuto for your informtion.

Frank

Gymnocalycium species were in flower yesterday afternoon.
All cacti were propagated from seeds. I refer to name tag of seeds for this post.

Two gymnocalycium species were in flower 2 days ago.
Strong spines limited flower to open freely.

Greenhouses were set for summer. Since the weather forecast told 3rd and 4th of this month would be very hot, I covered greenhouses over by 50% shade colth. The job was completed on 2nd.

I set on 15th of November every year normally but it was a half month late in this year.

3rd was 34 'C and 4th was 35 'C actually. The room temperature in greenhouses of both days were 47~48 C' which was my target, lessthan 50 'C.
Attached photos are greenhouses covered over by shadecloth.

An astrophytum asterias cv super kabuto was in flower. The cactus is similar to the original super kabutu which was found in 1980s.
