Hana's cacti
Re: Hana's cacti
I do not have so many Mammilaria but as shown on the attached photo, two pectinifera were repotted from 6.5 mm square pots to 8.5 cm square pots.

Good day Hanazono; Could you please point out the two dream kabutos in the pics and could you explain the difference between miracle and dream kabutos?Hanazono wrote: ↑Tue Aug 30, 2022 12:53 am I repotted 36 miracle kabutos in this morning.
Photo 1: before repotting
I cut long roots off 3 days ago. I checked root rotting but I could not see any rotting. I checked sections of cut roots.
Photo 2: after repotted
They are in 9.5 cm square pots.
Potting-mix is 60% pumice sand, 1~4 mm size and 40% organic base cactus mix in store.
Top dressing is 2~4 mm zeolite
I found 2 of them are not miracle kabuto, dream kabuto all others are miracle kabuto.

G'mornig Mrs. Green
Bottom row, 2nd from left is a dream kabuto, all others are miracle kabuto. I do not have a photo for all 36 asterias.
Dream kabuto
There was an asterias which had thicker flecking than standard one. It was called "Texas kabuto" because the asterias came from Texas.
Dream kabuto is a good one of Texas kabuto. Dream kabuto does not show the mutation of flecking.
Miracle kabuto
Miracle kabuto shows the mutation of flecking.
Since just one miracle kabuto was found, mixed various forms of asterias during development including Dream kabuto.
I bought seeds of miracle kabuto but just one showed the character of miracle kabuto.
Some others showed the character of dream kabuto.
I crossed miracle kabuto x dream kabuto which one was the original miracle kabuto in my place.

Re: Hana's cacti
I completed repotting of young asterias, in total 96 yesterday afternoon. My last job was repotting of selected 12 miracle kabutos. Seeds were sown in 2013 as same as others but they had larger flat bodies and showed a clear evidence of miracle kabuto.
They were in 9.5 cm square pots and moved into 12.5 cm square pots.
Photo 1: removed from 9.5 cm square pots, fine roots only
I cut their tap roots when they were 2 years old. Tap roots have never regrown.
Photo 2: trimmed off long roots,
I trim long roots off at every repotting and checked rotting.

Re: Hana's cacti
I found a T. valdezianus with standard flowers among white flowering ones.
I thought I lost all of standard flowering ones but one of them survived.

Re: Hana's cacti
My repotting job has been continued.
6 ariocarpus in 8.5 cm square pots seemed too tight. I repotted them yesterday. They passed 9.5 cmm size and went into 12.5 cm pots.
I set them with short Pereskiopsis stocks for rooting in 2015, 7 years ago and so I checked roots situation also.
They are 5 retusus v furfuraceus and 1 standard retusus.
Photo 1: One of them, furfuraceus
The short stock still survived but thick own-roots also were developed.
4 of 6 were same. 2 of them had not developed own-roots yet.
On the photo, left part is stock and its roots and right part is own-roots. I could confirm 3 thick own-roots.
Photo 2: after repotted into 12.5 cm square pots.
Hairy appearence is affected by short stocks.

Re: Hana's cacti
Good afternoon Hanazono Thank you very much. I have to study the difference a bit more, since to me there is no obvious difference between dream and miracle kabutos.Hanazono wrote: ↑Sun Sep 04, 2022 10:16 pm G'mornig Mrs. Green

Re: Hana's cacti
Two large cacti were potted two days ago as planned.
Seeds were sown on same day and current size are very similar, 24 cm in diameter.

My repotting job has been continued.
12 Obregonia denegrii which were posted on 20th August on photo 4 were repotted as schedule. They were moved from 6.5 cm to 8.5 cm square pots.
Photo 1: just after removed from pots
Photo 2: adjusted roots length to 6.5 cm, this length met to depth of new pot

Re: Hana's cacti
I took two photos yesterday afternoon.
Photo 1: Neoporteria species
I bought a young plant in 2005. I do not know the exact name.
Photo 2: I found several fruits on the top of Uebelmannia buiningii.
I pollinated some months ago. I will harvest seeds when they were matured and will sow.

Astrophytum myriostigma related species posted on the photo of 28th August were repotted.
Photo 1: After repotted, 8.5 cm and 9.5 cm square pots were used.
Photo 2: E. horizonthalonius seedlings which are in 6.5 cm square pots.
Seedlings grow slowly but I have to repot them into 8.5 cm square pot soon.
